Psalm 32:8 NIV
I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with my loving eye on you.
My parents did that really well; teaching me in the way I should go; teaching me about God. I didn’t always follow the path they wanted me to go down but it gave me a safety net later in life that would sustain me in times of real troubles. I know someone who quit taking their kid to Sunday school because “he doesn’t really seem to get anything out of it.” My answer (which was disregarded) was that even though you cannot see it now it might later be the foundation he needs for later in life. We all need something solid to hold on to that keeps us balanced in all kinds of situations and nothing does that as well as a concrete relationship with God. It says in the Psalm “I will instruct and teach you” and we have the textbook for the class and we have God and life experience as instructors. If we use those three things together we will go down the paths we should go with his loving eye upon us. But remember He instructs but the students need to listen and learn.
Prayer:
Holy God, teach me I want to listen and learn. Amen.
