1 John 4:9-10 BSB
This is how God’s love was revealed among us: God sent His one and only Son into the world, so that we might live through Him. And love consists in this: not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins.
Think about that verse for a moment; think about what God did and still does for you. Would you send your child, a part of you, out to suffer and die to save people who don’t even know you? Can you love people who hate and/or ignore you? Are you willing to forgive any conceivable sin that a person might commit? Are you willing to be rejected, beaten and killed to save others? Can you forgive people over and over and over again or do you have limits? All of those things are impossible for us to do all the time and yet He always has and still does. We should make a point to thank Him for that daily and ask for His help in becoming more like Him when it comes to acceptance, sacrifice and forgiveness. It is only in living through Him that we can repay some of the goodness He has given us. We cannot ever completely pay back all He has done for us but with His help we can give it a good try.
Prayer:
Blessed Jesus, thank you for all you have done for me. Help me grow to be more like you and less like me. Lead me to do what needs to be done so that others can know you too. Amen.
