Matthew 14:27-28 BSB

But Jesus spoke up at once: “Take courage! It is I. Do not be afraid.” “Lord, if it is You,” Peter replied, “command me to come to You on the water.”

Jesus tells them not to fear and then Peter basically says “prove it!” Do we do that? Well let’s look at that story. Jesus does what Peter asks and allows him to walk to Him on the water. Peter loses faith part way there and sinks. Jesus says “Oh you of little faith”. If we desire to be fearless in the walk of the Lord, we must build our faith in him. We have to believe that we can ‘walk on water’ as long as He is with us and we cannot (like Peter) get distracted by the noise around us and lose faith. God has ‘proved it’ over and over. Proved that He is with us and will help us. We need to remember those times when troubles try to distract us. Make a list today of all the times in life that God has pulled you out of the water, or the fire, or the storm. Keep that list and review it from time to time to remember how great He is. “Take courage, it is God. Do not be afraid!”

Prayer:

Abba! Help me to remember how great you are and how you love to help me. Armor me against the world and the troubles it assails me with. Be with me every step of the way and never let go. Amen.
