Ephesians 5:1-2 BSB

Be imitators of God, therefore, as beloved children, and walk in love, just as Christ loved us and gave Himself up for us as a fragrant sacrificial offering to God.…

I love the idea that we can be imitators of God. I love that Christ came and spent His life showing us how to do that and then sent the Holy Spirit to lead us to do it well.  What a great God we have that He thought of all that. It sometimes seems like a huge job; walking in Jesus footsteps; trying to be an imitator of God but as Paul infers it begins with love. If we begin all that we do with the love of God we will never be led astray. It was loving that lead Christ to die for our sins and arise to grant us eternal life and it is love that should lead us to do His will here on earth.  We can never be perfect imitators of God but we can sure try and do the best we can if we (as Paul suggests) walk in the love that Christ had for us.

Prayer:

Holy God in Heaven, lead me to be the best imitator of You that I can and to always walk in the love that you poured out on me. Amen.
