Give us today our daily bread.
Jesus doesn’t teach us to pray “give us this day all our wants” he uses “daily bread”. He expects us to ask for necessitates not luxury. He also wants us to ask for ways to help others; be it spreading the Word, feeding the sheep, clothing the poor, teaching the young, praying for those who need it or just holding the hand of someone who needs the companionship. Christianity is a service religion; we cannot just sit on our bums and wait for heaven. We are denying God when we run out on the responsibilities of being a follower of Christ, for whatever reason. God never gives us more than we can handle; he always provides what we need and he is always with us. We need to take our ‘daily bread’ and see what good we can do with it. That is what Christ would do and so should we.
Heavenly Father, give me today my needs and lead me to share with others so that all may know your love and provision. Amen.
