O Lord, our Heavenly Father, as we think upon your Son’s baptism we recall the vows made on our behalf or that we ourselves made at the time of our baptism. We confess that contrary to those promises we have not always resisted evil, injustice, and oppression; nor have we put our whole trust in your grace. Forgive us, we pray, and strengthen our resolve to serve you as our Lord, all our days. Amen.

Lord, you have searched me and known me! You know when I sit down and when I rise up; you discern my thoughts from afar. You search out my path and my lying down
and are acquainted with all my ways. Even before a word is on my tongue, behold, O Lord, you know it altogether. You hem me in, behind and before, and lay your hand upon me. Such knowledge is too wonderful for me; it is high; I cannot attain it.

• Francis Outlaw's Son-in-law, Donnie Sexton (wife is Theresa) seriously ill at Vanderbilt Medical Center, cause is currently unknown.
