1 Kings 17:12 BSB

But she replied, “As surely as the LORD your God lives, I have no bread—only a handful of flour in a jar and a little oil in a jug. Look, I am gathering a couple of sticks to take home and prepare a meal for myself and my son, so that we may eat it and die.” “Do not be afraid,” Elijah said to her. “Go and do as you have said. But first make me a small cake of bread from what you have, and bring it out to me. Afterward, make some for yourself and your son, for this is what the LORD God of Israel says: ‘The jar of flour will not be exhausted and the jug of oil will not run dry until the day the LORD sends rain on the face of the earth.”…

Incredible faith and incredible kindness. I have always had a soft spot for the woman who Elijah asks for food; she sounds so like me. “gonna get me some sticks, make my last piece of bread and then die.” She is logically and quietly accepting the impending death of she and her son until Elijah comes along. Now we don’t really even know if she is a Jew, but she has enough faith in his God to do what he asks. Because of her faith a miracle occurs. Which makes me wonder, if we were to build a stronger faith; what miracles might occur? What miracles might be happening every day that we just don’t see. Her faith saved the life of she and her son and fed a stranger too; what can our faith do today?

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, use my faith to create little miracles to help others and to show them Your glory and love, in Jesus name, Amen.
