Galatians 5:14 NLT
For the whole law can be summed up in this one command: “Love your neighbor as yourself.”
One command, two parts, but still words to live by. First, for the idea to work, we must love ourselves; if we are having trouble with that, we should remember whose image we are made in and love the God inside us. Jesus suffered and died for us, so we should know we are worthy of His love. Second, we must love all others with same passion we love the God within us. We must love with God’s love, not the love defined by mankind. That love is conditional and often cruel. God’s love is unconditional and all encompassing. God’s love is compassionate and all forgiving. It is a love that He has for all mankind. It is a love that we must learn to express as well. The God within loves them all, good, bad, black, white, brown, male, female, Christian and not Christian alike. God loves them. So should we.
Prayer:
Lord in Heaven Above, help me to pour your love out to all I meet. May your love grow in my heart until it overflows on all who need it. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
