Micah 7:8 GNT

Our enemies have no reason to gloat over us. We have fallen, but we will rise again. We are in darkness now, but the LORD will give us light.

Most of us have been there, abandoned at the bottom of the heap with someone gloating over their “victory” over us. Yet here we are “still standing”. Like the mythical phoenix, many of us have risen from impossible circumstances to be far better off than before; given another chance. Leave those gloaters to their pride and their hate, we have God and they do not; so, we are already ahead of them. The apostle Paul had an interesting outlook on this in Phil. 1:21-25 we hear “For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain. If I am to go on living in the body, this will mean fruitful labor for me. Yet what shall I choose? I do not know! I am torn between the two: I desire to depart and be with Christ, which is better by far; but it is more necessary for you that I remain in the body.” He accepted that life is hard and although he wanted to just go home to Jesus, he would keep going and doing God’s will because God was with him and could get him through it. He had lived in the ‘darkness’ and found the ‘light’ and he was never going to let it go. We need to follow that idea, and regardless of the darkness in our lives follow the light of Christ instead.

Prayer:

Jesus, light of the world, thank you for being in my life and being with me always. Strengthen my faith and give me the courage to face the world today. Amen.
