Congregational Care Update

Surround one another with love and support

My hope is to send a different kind of post each day focusing on a different part of our life together as a community of faith. Today’s post is focused on our care of each other. Many of us are starting to feel anxiety caused by the separation of not meeting together it is even affecting introverts like me 🙂

When we start to feel anxious, let’s follow Paul’s advice to stop and pray:

Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, with prayer and thanksgiving, present your requests to God.

Philippians 4:6-7

We serve a God that is bigger than any problem in this world. We will be okay. Call your extroverted friends and check on them! And follow the God who the wind and waves still know His name and He can still the storm.

– PJ

P.S. Set an alarm and let’s join together in prayer at 12:19 pm each day for those impacted by COVID-19. If you need something to follow see the prayer here.

Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.

Matthew 11:28-30

Diaper Drive for the Davenports

While we may not be able to gather to celebrate the impending birth of the Davenport’s newest edition due to our social distancing, that doesn’t mean that we can’t celebrate from afar by supporting them! We will be holding a diaper drive for baby Rowan through April 5th.

We will be holding a diaper drive for baby Rowan from now through April 5th. Though the Davenports have many of the big-ticket items taken care of, they are in need of some baby essentials (like diapers and wipes). We will be collecting these items at the church Mondays-Thursdays, between the hours 9:00 am-3:00 pm. If you cannot make it during these times, the church will be open on Thursdays 6:00 pm-8:00 pm for praise team rehearsals (please leave items in the Connector without disrupting rehearsal).

You will see a large box, clearly marked for Rowan, in the Connector for the diapers and wipes. If you do not feel comfortable going to the store or are unable to make it to the church for drop-off and still would like to give, you can always order online at the following registries and have the items shipped directly to the Davenports:

You can also call or text Katie Bradford at 573-275-3143 or email her at missdds87@gmail.com to discuss other arrangements. For those who do contribute to the diaper drive, we will be raffling off a few fabulous prizes. If you drop off at the church, check with a volunteer to fill out a raffle card or if you are ordering online/making other arrangements, let Katie know to be entered to win. Drawing will take place on the evening of April 5th. We know that you all have a lot on your minds in these uncharted times, but thank you for not overlooking the bundle of joy set to arrive in just a few weeks to our church family.

Pastoral /Congregational Care Plan

Take Care of Each Other. In this season when we are being encouraged to practice “social distancing,” for the good of all. it is important for our community of faith to make sure that those who are most vulnerable among us are receiving the care that they need. Reach out to the elderly and those with compromised immune systems that may have trouble getting out of the house. Make sure people know that they are not alone. Text or, better yet, pick up the phone and let people hear your voice. Send notes of love and encouragement to brighten up our days. Find ways to keep loving people well.

If you are at high risk for COVID-19 ( those 60+, underlying medical conditions, special needs) and are in need of food, medication, or supplies, please let us know.
Additionally, we encourage everyone to reach out via phone to those who are at high risk for COVID-19 to make sure that they have what they need.  Please forward their names to Pastor Louise so that she can coordinate our congregational response through the Congregational Care Team. Email Pastor Louise

Finally, if you are not at high risk, are not exhibiting symptoms of the virus, and you are willing to run errands or make deliveries for our members who are unable to leave their homes, please contact Pastor Jeremy or Pastor Louise.

If you are in need of spiritual or emotional support during this time, please reach out to one of our pastors Pastor Jeremy, Pastor Louise or Pastor Rick.
