The Stillness of The Eve
It’s Christmas Eve, as we are anxiously awaiting the celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ. There is a certain palpable excitement or energy in the stillness of Christmas Eve. As Christians the gift that we received on Christmas day should be something that we approach each year with a childlike spirit of waiting for the gifts that Santa.
So Joseph also went up from the town of Nazareth in Galilee to Judea, to Bethlehem the town of David, because he belonged to the house and line of David. He went there to register with Mary, who was pledged to be married to him and was expecting a child. While they were there, the time came for the baby to be born
Luke 2:4-6
Leading up to the birth of Christ, Mary and Joseph were on a journey. Imagine the energy that cut through the air once it became apparent that Christ was about to be born. The anxious excitement and worry that Joseph was feeling while he waited for the birth. The joy he felt when the night air was broken by a child’s cry.
REflection
How do you approach Christmas day with a childlike zeal for the gift that God has given us? How do we have the patience of Joseph in that moment before the birth?
Prayer
Lord, THANK YOU for the gift that is to come for me. You have provided me with the greatest gift that I have ever received or am going to receive. Give me the heart of a child when it comes to celebrating the gift of Jesus this season. God, please bless all of those in my life and all of those I encounter throughout this celebration. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.
