The Cost of Christ

Having a relationship with God is something that people typically says comes without a cost, but I disagree with that statement. Our relationship with God costs us two things. First it cost us Jesus, for he made the ultimate sacrifice to bring us back to God.

For Christ also suffered once for sins, the righteous for the unrighteous, to bring you to God. He was put to death in the body but made alive in the Spirit.

1 Peter 3:18

Secondly, our relationship costs us in comfort. We need to always make the first step to God. We also are charged to come to Him baring our sins to purify our hearts and ask for forgiveness, this can be an uncomfortable thing to do as we have to give clout to that which we are ashamed of. God understands this though, and seeks to have a conversation with us and to draw closer to us as we come closer to him.

Come near to God and he will come near to you. Wash your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded.

James 4:8
Prayer

Lord, thank you for everything you have done for me. I come to you seeking forgiveness for all that is weighing on my heart and soul. I know that I’m an imperfect creature living in Your world. Please help me wash my heart and my soul as to continue to do Your work here on earth. Amen.
