The Feeling of Stupid

If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.

1 john 1:9

Ever wake up in the morning and start getting ready for your day only to end up messing up or misplacing something, leaving you feeling completely and utterly stupid? What about looking back at your day, week, month, year, etc. and replay moments when you have made stupid mistakes, and let those memories haunt you. These feelings can make you feel sick, full of regrets, and make you want to isolate yourself from everyone in the world to hide the embarrassment.

What Christ does though is remind us that we weren’t created to live a life separated from others and running away isn’t the answer. We often forget that we are never the only ones at any given moment feeling that sense of dumbness, and that feeling has been around since the creation.

In the story of Adam and Eve, they find themselves disobeying God directly after obtaining the knowledge of what good and evil is and in their feeling of embarrassment, try to hid from God. God though is full of love, forgiveness, and grace, even with knowing that we are going to disobey. God also gave us the greatest gift ever given through Jesus, who carried our sins and showed us the way to the light and a relationship with God.

You no longer have to feel stupid or embarrassed with Jesus in your life; we find ourselves right to feel forgiven.

Prayer

Thank you Lord for never losing sight of us, you had every reason to push us away and guide us to solitude. Instead you delivered us Jesus Christ, giving us the path of how to be even closer to you than ever before. Thank you for that gift. Amen.
