I Hate Mondays
Garfield had it right, I hate Mondays, in matter of fact I’m not the only one who gets the “Monday Blues” according to inc. Why is Monday such a drag on us both physically and emotionally at times? There’s a few scientific reasons for it.
- “Misery Loves Company” we are social creatures that tend to adapt to the behaviors of the people surrounding us, if your coworkers, spouse, or friends don’t like Mondays then you’re more predisposed to not liking them either.
- The Lack of Preparation Mondays tend to feel more overwhelming to you since you probably did not get the same level of preparation in for Monday as you do for Tuesday-Friday.
- Weekend Me vs Work Week Me We tend to act differently depending on the situation, but the biggest gap is between our personal and professional lives, this separation leads us to living two separate lives.
So how does this effect our spiritual lives? Let me help answer that one. I feel like when we find ourselves centered in Christ we can overcome some of the items above.
If our attitude is not set by others but by our relationship with Christ, we not only give ourselves a boost, but we can provide others an example to get out of the “Misery” of Monday.
A Lack of Preparation attacks us not only professionally, but personally. Take some time before work on Mondays to center yourself with God first, and get a list of to do’s for the day professionally. This focus helps you get started with a perception of preparation for the day.
Last, if you are focusing your live on being more Christ-like, the gap of personal me vs professional me goes from the grand canyon to a crack in the sidewalk. As we focus on being more like Christ in both our lives, you’ll soon realize that there really isn’t two lives your living, but one for the betterment of the Kingdom of God.
Overall, keep in perspective what this Forbes study found out, which found that our most productive day of the week is actually… Mondays.
