Romans 8:35 ESV

Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or danger, or sword?

The first apostles suffered a lot for the Gospel, and yet it just made them more faithful. No matter the persecution they would always bounce back and rise up. It was faith, pure and simple, that got them through it all. From excommunication, to arrests, to beatings and even unto death, they remained faithful. It is that faith that can sustain us, keep us going, help us up, re-fortify our soul. Some non-biblical literature claims that Peter told his wife to rejoice in her martyrdom and that he danced on his way to be crucified himself; joyful he would be with Jesus again. We need that hope and faith, that he will get us through the tough times and when the time comes, he will be with us all the way to the end. That is where peace and strength live, in the unassailable faith in the Lord.

Prayer:

Blessed Jesus, thank you for being with me in all things. Hold my hand and lead me through the good and the bad times and keep me always with you. Amen.
