Luke 6:37 NKJV

Judge not, and you shall not be judged. Condemn not, and you shall not be condemned. Forgive, and you will be forgiven.

In the end, we get what we gave and that should give us pause. Every assumption, every word of gossip, every lie, every condemnation, every hateful word, all of that will come back on us. The good news is that every act of compassion, every act of mercy, every kind word, these will come back to us as well. We need to fill that cart up with good things instead of bad ones. The world we live in feeds on those lies, judgements, hate and gossip, we need to counter that by A. not participating and B. sending out the love and mercy and compassion instead. In Acts 4:19 “Peter and John replied, “Judge for yourselves whether it is right in God’s sight to listen to you rather than God.” That should be a signpost for us in life; are we speaking for God or for man? What if we stopped before speaking every time and asked ourselves “Would Jesus say this?” and if the answer is no, change it. What a change we might see in the world around us if all Christians did that! The tongue is a powerful weapon, both for and against the Lord. Let us use it well.

Prayer:

Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O LORD, my strength, and my redeemer. Amen (Psalm 19:14)
