Whatever you do, work at it with your whole being, for the Lord and not for men, because you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as your reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving.
People talk about tithing being all about money, but it is not. God needs our time just as much. Think about how much time you spend with God every day…. How much time praying; how much time listening; how much time doing His will?” What if we tithed our time? There are 24 hours in a day, let’s take off the 8 hours we get for sleep; that leaves 16 hours a day. What if we dedicated 1.6 hours a day (96 minutes) to God’s work, in prayers and service? That is just a tad over 11 hours a week. Is that too much for him to ask for? 96 minutes a day, either in prayer, or worship, or helping others in His name. If it sounds like too much, maybe start with a third of that, 32 minutes a day. Then, when that gets comfortable, extend it some. God has given us everything we have, surely, we can give him back a bit of time.
Blessed Savior, help me to give back some of what you have given to me, with my time and my heart. Lead me to serve you every day. Amen.
