Disciple Making groups, B Groups, Bands, or as we focus on them true small groups consist of 3-4 people of the same gender. These groups are structured to be very similar to the ideal model, the group of Jesus, John, James, and Peter.
John Wesley viewed these bands as groups where individuals of the same gender and marital status could met to confess specific sins and struggles with one another. This was to provide a group that could be more accountable and focused on growing through the struggles with one another.
Small groups are transformation driven groups, not focused on discussion or mastery of content, but on changed lives, on group members’ experience of God. This type of group is organized around a common desire to support one another and hold each other accountable in their efforts to become increasingly faithful Christians who are growing in love of God and neighbor.
