Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in the heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing in Christ. For he chose us in him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight. In love he predestined us for adoption to sonship through Jesus Christ, in accordance with his pleasure and will— to the praise of his glorious grace, which he has freely given us in the One he loves.
Ephesians 1:3-6
Today is Ash Wednesday and we reflect on the start of the Lenten season. Our annual journey as Christians during Lent helps us refocus, recommit, and recenter ourselves in Christ. Today’s verse shows how we are adopted by God, we were chosen and giving God praise for blessing us in this way.
Though we end this period on one of the darkest days in history, we know that the journey taken is just the beginning, That God in all the love He has adopted us through Jesus.
Lord, creator of the heavens and earth. Thank you for adopting me into Your grace. Please help me by preparing my heart during this Lenten season to find the pathway to praise the Love you have shown me. In Christ’s name I pray, Amen.
