Lenten Devotional Day 3
For this reason, ever since I heard about your faith in the Lord Jesus and your love for all God’s people, I have not stopped giving thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers. I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know him better.
Ephesians 1:15-17
When Paul wrote Ephesians he provided wrote about giving thanks and praying for a fellow christian. This example points out a few things, he states “…ever since I heard about your faith in the Lord Jesus…”, being aware and an outward symbol of Jesus in today’s world can be a difficult thing, but are called to be that beacon here on Earth. Paul also continued with “…and your love for all God’s people…”, this love contained in Jesus’ outlining of the greatest commandments:
Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’
Matthew 22:37-39
Praying for thanks for our fellow Christians as Paul does is one of the selfless acts that we can do to show love to others. Those that surround us are what make us better individuals on our pathway to walk in Jesus’ footsteps.
Prayer
Lord creator, you bless my life every day though what you graciously give me and those of your people that you surround me with. I know that putting people that are in different stages of their journey towards you in my life provides me an opportunity to both learn and teach. In Christs name I pray, Amen.
