Lenten Devotional Day 5

But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions—it is by grace you have been saved. And God raised us up with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus, in order that in the coming ages he might show the incomparable riches of his grace, expressed in his kindness to us in Christ Jesus.

Ephesians 2:4-7

Think of the magnitude of this verse, even though we were in all intents and purposes dead to our sin, God raised us up with Christ. Easter is a celebration of Christ raising from the grave after 3 days, but it’s also our celebration, we were brought back to life on that day. We have been saved. We have been found to be equals with Christ, though we know we will never obtain that, but Christ knows we won’t and comes to us. Let us continue to prepare ourselves to celebrate Easter for both Christ and us.

Prayer

My wonderful savior! Thank you for bringing me back to life from my sin. I know that I was and will never be worthy enough to rightfully earn this gift, but though Christ and your Grace I have been saved. Please continue to bless me and my fellow Christians. In and through Christ I pray. Amen.
