Jesus said, Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.
Good Shepherd believes of the importance of instilling solid Christian values bundled with lots of love at a very early age. The future of the world lies in the hands of the children, and it is the church's responsibility to help and encourage their growth in Christ. We strive to make a place where children and their families can…
- Praise God through Prayer and Worship
- Learn about God's word & how to apply it to their lives
- Encourage, Fellowship. Grow with other believers
- Care for others & receive the blessings it brings
- Learn the Bible creatively and relevantly
GSUMC Children’s Ministry accomplishes this through a number of programs, all designed to nurture, care for, and teach God's word. Good Shepherd UMC serves as a resource to help your child grow spiritually through crafts, music, study, fellowship, and lots of FUN!!
GSUMC Kids Programming
The children of GSUMC are a very important part of our church family. Therefore, we have designed special classes for them to attend in order to prepare them to live the Christian life into adulthood. We believe and strive on the fact that building a solid spiritual foundation at an early age can shape who they become, changing the world as we know it. By teaching kids to develop a biblical foundation we can impact their everyday choices and actions.

Nursery
Nursery (Room 133) is provided during most gatherings and events for children Birth to 3rd birthday.
- Sundays: 8:30am-12:30pm
- Wednesday Nights: 6pm-8pm
- Extra Events: as needed
Our Nursery Kids spend their time with a Nursery aged Bible lesson, singing, playing, snacks and crafts. We teach our little ones through a play based learning curriculum by Deep Blue. One Bible story is focused on for 4 weeks, to allow the children to truly learn the story by hearing it over and over; with different crafts and activities each week. It’s amazing hearing such little ones telling you the stories of the Bible.
Elementary
- Kids Worship: 9:15am-10:05am (worship as a family to start, at 8:45am)
- Sunday School: 10:05am-10:55am
- Wednesday Night G.R.O.W.: 6:30pm-7:30pm
On Sunday morning, we start in the sanctuary with our families for worship (8:45am). Once the Pastor calls for the Children to gather, we continue Kids Worship in Room 210. Kids Worship is an interactive time of worship and learning, with Bible lessons, activities and fun, using the Holy Moly! Scope and Sequence.
After Kids Worship, children are led to their Sunday School classes for small group. During this time, kids will dig deeper into the lesson with videos, readings, and crafts.
Wednesday evening classes are divided into age groups, similar to Sunday morning classes, for group study.

On Sundays, our 5th and 6th graders enjoy worship with their family in the sanctuary. Clipboards are available in the Narthex (front lobby) with activity sheets and sermon notes. On months with 5 Sundays, 5th & 6th graders are welcome to join during the Kids Worship time for a special event (i.e. Pajamas & Pancakes). See Children’s Ministry Newsletter for upcoming 5th Sunday events.
- Sunday School: 10:05am-10:55am
Our 5th & 6th graders meet after service in Room 209. Lessons are chosen from PreteenMinistry.org. These lessons include activities, bible lessons and how it relates to their life, and discussion. This class relies on their relationships with each other, while welcoming new comers, as they continue to learn about and rely on their relationship with Jesus.
