Dana grew up in the Nazarene church in Covington,Ga , receiving her call to music ministry when she was a preteen. God led her through intense spiritual growth as a teenager, more so than others she has known. From an early age God made known to her what His plan for her life was. Music Ministry, and making leaders of others in the ministry.
Education and Journey
Dana recieved her first local minister of music license when I was 16. Graduating with her Church Music degree with emphasis in Piano and Vocal Performance from Trevecca Nazarene University in Nashville in 2007. After graduating she moved back to GA and took an unpaid position as Worship Leader at her childhood church, Lifepointe Church of the Nazarene. During this time she also began teaching piano/vocal lessons at McKibben Music. In 2010 she accepted a position as Music Director at Porterdale Presbyterian Church in 2010, where she experienced high church litergy and enjoyed worshipping God in this style.
In 2013 she then accepted the position of pianist at Porterdale United Methodist Church and began her journey to becoming a Methodist. God gave her such a love of music that she was able to serve in different denominations and congregations wherever she was called by God to serve. Through all this moving around she continued to long to come back to Nashville and in 2016 she stepped out in faith with no promise of employment knowing Nashville was where she was supposed to go.
God opened the doors of Good Shepherd United Methodist Church beginning as church pianist. At Good Shepherd she has grown spiritually and as a musician. During her time as pianist she felt God preparing her for more. In 2017 that opportunity was given in the form of a promotion to Minister of Music here at Good Shepherd. Dana still enjoys teaching piano from her music studio at her home. Dana has had this to say about her journey, “God has been so faithful and has given everything I have prayed for, Glory be to God for His unending love and promise!!”
