Serve

Project Transformation, Serve Opportunity

Project Transformation is coming back in a new way this year!  The Project Transformation team has been hard at work to figure out the best way to serve the children and families during these times of social distancing.  This has allowed for new opportunities for all of us to serve in a new way.  Below you will find the different ways we can serve this summer.  Wherever you choose to Serve, please let us know at gsserveteam@gmail.com

Become a Pen Pal

Pen Pals will write with the children from June 1st through July 23rd to help them develop reading and writing skills as well as create connection. Requirements:  Pen Pals must be over the age of 16 and must have a background check.  Letters will be sent to the Project Transformation office for review and then they will distribute to the students.  If you are interested in becoming a pen pal you must register online

Donate Summer Camp in a Bag supplies

We are taking donations for packing bags for the kids and families.  You can donate monetarily or pick from the below list of items and deliver to the church connector.  Please note that all items must be NEW.  -New children’s book 1st-5th grade (elementary) or 6th-8th (middle school)-Finger pointer/ something to help follow along as you read -Rubik’s cube/ puzzle cube -Yo-yo -Crayons -Sidewalk chalk -Snacks (2-3 servings per child, no peanuts please) Examples: Pretzels, microwave popcorn, fruit snacks, granola bars, fruit cups, jerky Note: Please make sure all items are brand new. Volunteers to distribute bags

Volunteers will distribute day camp bags to families at Matthews Memorial Church July 6th – 9th from 10:30am – 2:00pm.  We only need a maximum of 3 volunteers per day and must be between the ages of 18-64.  Volunteers will have their temperature checked upon arrival and will be required to wear mask and gloves.  There is also a health waiver form to be completed for these volunteers.  Please let Robert or Sara know if you are interested and we can send you the form.

Buy Project Transformation T-Shirts

These super adorable t-shirts will benefit the overall work that Project Transformation does day to day.

And most importantly – PRAYER

The children and families, the staff at Project Transformation, and the volunteers will all need our prayer throughout this new way of working together while apart.  This is a time of creative innovation and learning how to best connect with children and families while we are unable to physically be together.  Encouragement and support through prayer are very appreciated.
Thank you to everyone for considering how each of you can best serve during this new time.  If you have any questions please let us know at gsserveteam@gmail.com
