The Generous Life
Now we move into what it means to live The Generous Life. What matters to God and what we need? We all want to make a difference in this world. The way we use our resources determines our impact. The great paradox in life is this: those who try to hold on to their lives will lose them, and the ones who generously sacrifice their lives will gain them.
We will explore how a generous life will change us and change the world. And over the next 6 weeks, we are going to look at Generosity in the stories and lives of our Good Shepherd Family and through the 5 covenants we all make together as members of the United Methodist Church.
The Generous Life: Celebration
Join us this week as we focus on generosity even in our celebration. When you think about themes in the Bible celebration might not rank high on your list. But Psalm 100 encourages not only to celebrate and worship God for what God has done but also for who God is. The writer of Ecclesiastes observes that there are times to grieve and times to celebrate.
The Generous Life: Financial Gifts
Join us this week as we focus on generosity in our Financial Gifts. The more I look at our what true discipleship looks like in the way of Jesus the more I am convinced that we will only grow when we learn how to financially give generously.
The Generous Life: Presence
Join us this week as we focus on generosity in our Presence. Hebrews 10:24-25 talks to us about being together. As Christians, we were never meant to experience the Christian life on our own but rather in community with each other.
The Generous Life : Witness
Join us this week as we focus on generosity in our Witness. 1 Peter 3:15 calls us to be ready to give an accounting, an explanation, a testimony of our hope in Jesus Christ to anyone who asks. Are you ready to do that? Do you know how to share your faith? What is the one thing that it takes to witness more than anything else?
The Generous Life: Service
The Generous Life also focuses on Service. Winston Churchill famously said: “We make a living by what we get; we make a life by what we give.”
