Here we are beginning the 2nd week of Advent, the joyous Christmas Day is fast approaching, and it may be challenging to find this week’s word of focus- PEACE.

I am drawn to my favorite advent scripture from the Prophet Isaiah

“For a child has been born for us, a son given to us; authority rests upon his shoulders; and he is named Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.”

Jesus is the Prince of Peace.  When Isaiah wrote this scripture “peace” was written as “shalom”, to mean completeness.   So instead of us thinking on and trying merely to grasp a moment of Peace in this busy season, may we rest and trust in our “completeness” of being one with our Savior.   As we wait for the birth of the Messiah and His return, let us dwell in Jesus’ peace and our completeness in Him.

Prayer

Father God, in the midst of these busy days, I ask for the reminder of my completeness in You, still my soul and cover me with your Peace.  Amen.
