Share Your God Sightings
The man from whom the demons had gone begged to come along with Jesus as one of his disciples. Jesus sent him away, saying “return home and tell the story of what God has done for you. “So, he went throughout the city proclaiming what Jesus had done for him.
(Luke 6: 38 – 49)
A Barna study indicated that only 78% of Christians share information about how they have been blessed by God.
When I have asked people why they do not share the blessings they have received from God, many indicate that they don’t want people to think they’re crazy or a religious fanatic.
God has called us to live out the Great Commission. Therefore, a major part of the disciple-making process is sharing how God is working in our lives.
When we share our stories with others, they begin to realize that God is present in the world and may start to see how things in our lives may have more than consequences.
During my journey, there have been times when I was not open to sharing what God was doing in my life. I was afraid it would make me seem like I thought I was better than others.
The reality is that when I have shared God’s work in my life, others have been encouraged to find God’s presence in their lives.
I challenge you that when God places a person in your life, who is looking for a real-life example of how God is working in the world, you should be courageous enough to tell the story of what God has been done has done for you.
First Thessalonians 5:11 encourages us to: “Therefore encourage one another and build each other up just as in fact you are doing.” doing this not only encourages the other person but it can also make you a new friend.
Prayer: God, help me to be aware of those who are around me who need to hear stories of your work in the world today. Give me the words they need to hear, and let me have the courage to share them. Amen
