Good Evening!
This week we survived our first snow of the season with bitter cold and thankfully temperatures have finally rebounded. And tomorrow the key word will be Celebration. At worship, it will be celebrating our 5 covenants of a Generous Life and tomorrow night we will be A Celebration of YOU all of you our faithful servants!
And I would ask special prayers for my dad Jerry Squires he is in the hospital awaiting his kidneys doing better to have a heart cath. Long story. But this next week will determine the length of his life. Here is the story if you would like to know more.
And we celebrate the end of The Generous Life. We have looked at Generosity in our Service (w/ Virginia Yancey), Prayers (w/Tom Hire), Witness (w/James Leisure), Presence (w/Lester Burkhart), and Finance (w/Janice Slaughter). Now in week 6, we bring it all together with celebrating those 5 covenants together. Don’t forget you bring your Covenant Cards back tomorrow!
Join us this week as we focus on generosity even in our celebration. When you think about themes in the Bible celebration might not rank high on your list. But Psalm 100 encourages not only to celebrate and worship God for what God has done but also for who God is. The writer of Ecclesiastes observes that there are times to grieve and times to celebrate.
Celebration is an important part of life. The people of God in the Old Testament celebrated with regular festivals. One of Jesus’ greatest stories (Luke 15:11–31) was about a huge celebration, when the prodigal son returned and the father said:
Let’s have a feast and celebrate.
Luke 15:23
So we know that it is biblical to celebrate but why should we celebrate? Join us for The Generous Life: Celebration.
And we are coming to a close on the Celebration of our Staff. You have been amazing and the last staff we want to celebrate are some folks you may think are not our staff but they really are. They are our Little Lambs Leadership Team, Brittany May, Director, Terry King, Assistant Director, and Jessica Waggoner, Financial Coordinator. Here are their favorite things!
And here is all the staff if you haven’t had a chance time is running out… click on their names to see all our staff.
P.S.Lester Burkhart is in rehab at St Thomas Midtown and while he is doing well in rehab ( likely to go home before Thanksgiving) he is in extreme pain and having a hard time eating because of muscle spasms.
And Charlie Jones can eat/drink liquids AND solids ( he was able to avoid a feeding tube but still is unable to talk more a few words ( slow slow process Judy says) and is dealing with gout in his weak arm. He is projected to come home this Thurs.
Pastor Louise could also use our prayers for some medical challenges and finding answers. And Ray Hamilton is home as well as Jameson Michael Leisure.
